Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical consulting services to all Chevron Operating Companies (OPCO's) for existing assets as well as capital projects, including petroleum refineries, offshore topside facilities, onshore production facilities, gas plants, and pipelines. 
  • Independently establish credibility and serve OPCO's business needs in a consulting role in the areas of thermal design of process fired heaters, boilers, waste heat recovery units, burners and flares. 
  • Assist the OPCO project management team with concept development, scoping, field startup, trouble shooting, and failure analysis. 
  • Maintain steady contacts with ETC and OPCO subject matter experts and develop an active connection between the OPCO project management and SME's.
  • Actively participate in Haz OP's, Safety Objective Analysis, Levels of Protection Analysis. 
  • May assist in development and delivery of training on fired equipment systems.
  • Acts to leverage technology across Business Unit boundaries through technology networks and documentation. 
  • Participate in industry committees such as API and AFRC, technical networks, works collaboratively with peers and customers, and contributes to organizational capability by documenting and filing work product.
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience related to design and operation of fired equipment, boilers, flares and thermal oxidizer systems for petroleum processing facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and problem solving skills in industrial business environments.
  • Proven knowledge of assessment and evaluation of new technology, including ultra-low NOx burners.
  • Knowledge of internationally recognized design codes and industry standards on fired equipment systems, including API and ASME.
  • Working knowledge of a range of software tools: including FRNC5 and HTRI fired heater programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Chevron Engineering Specifications related to fired heaters, Boilers, waste heat recovery units, and flares.
  • Working knowledge of Fluid Flow models
