For our process units at this dynamic location, we are currently looking for a Chemical Engineer for Process Optimization and Process Safety (Technologist).

What is the role about? 
  • As a Chemical Engineer for Process Optimization and Process Safety your key activities will be to 
  • deliver proactive technological support to the production unit to ensure safe operation, asset integrity, compliance and optimal performance (margin, energy, reliability) in both the short and long term through active support and healthy challenge as appropriate. 
  • provide analysis and support for plant performance troubleshooting 
  • ensure process safety aspects for plant changes and smaller projects. 
  • make sure that Risk analysis and Safety Memos are up-to-date. 
  • support definition and implementation of margin and energy/CO2 improvement projects 
  • deliver technological part of turnarounds. 

You will be accountable for the day to day technological support to operations - monitoring, guidance, optimization, troubleshooting, product quality assurance- as well as for the coordination of technology support activities for your area. 

You are responsible for process safety aspects on plant changes and projects and you will provide technological input for projects: initiation, pre-engineering work (feasibility, BOD, BDP), and BDEP support.

As a Chemical Engineer for Process Optimization and Process Safety you will drive systematic improvement by: 
  • identifying and realizing opportunities for improvement of the process with regard to HSE, capacity, variable costs, energy consumption and quality. 
  • preparing, supporting and evaluating test runs. 
  • advising on catalyst selection 
  • fit-for-purpose networking with global Shell-organization and other production sites to share best practices as well as keep abreast of technology developments. 
  • Developing new concepts for improvement of unit performance for the units. Potential for margin improvement as well as cost and energy reduction (existent assets as well as new developments) 
  • Liaise across a variety of internal/external interfaces (economics & scheduling, engineering, QHSE, ... etc.) to define critical or high potential areas for improvement.
